For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, the tournament began with a host nation involved in an active conflict with one of the participating countries.

Due to visa-related issues, Iran was forced to relocate its pre-World Cup training camp from the United States to Mexico. In addition, 11 members of the team’s support staff were reportedly denied entry into the U.S.

Despite the obstacles and uncertainty surrounding their campaign, Iran produced an impressive performance in its opening match, battling to a 2-2 draw against New Zealand.

The stadium featured a strong turnout of Iranian supporters, who passionately backed their team throughout the match and created a lively atmosphere.

New Zealand took an early lead in the seventh minute through a move involving Chris Wood and Elijah Just. Iran responded in the 32nd minute when Reza Rezaeian found the back of the net to level the score.

In the second half, Elijah Just restored New Zealand’s advantage, but Mohammad Mohebi’s well-timed header brought Iran back into the contest once again.

Both sides pushed hard for a winning goal in the closing stages, but neither could find the breakthrough, and the entertaining encounter ended in a 2-2 draw.
