CoreTemp is a small free and portable application that does not need to be installed and can monitor CPU temperature. Consisting of only a single executable file about 500KB in size, you can use it whenever you suspect the CPU is overheating.
This app doesn’t have temperature graphs, but it does record temperature information so you can create graphs with other apps.
One of the useful features of CoreTemp is the System Information dialog box, which displays a lot of information about your CPU. You can know the exact voltage of any CPU core. One thing I noticed with this dialog is that my CPU speed goes up in one core, while the other core has a lower clock speed. That happens even when the computer is not doing much work.

How does Core Temp work?
Core Temp makes it easy to monitor the temperature of any modern x86 processor. This program supports processors from 3 main manufacturers: Intel, AMD, and VIA.
- Intel processors starting with the “Core” line upgrade to the latest Core i7, all derivatives included.
- AMD processors starting with the first Athlon64 and Opteron series, all new AMD Phenoms and APUs supported.

Core Temp has the ability to accurately read temperatures collected directly from the Digital Thermal Sensor (or DTS) located in each individual processor core, near the hottest part. This sensor is digitized, meaning it doesn’t rely on an external circuit on the motherboard to report the temperature, its value is stored in a special register on the microprocessor that can be accessed by software. and read it.
