CoolPack 1.50 Download for PC

CoolPack IPU is a comprehensive collection of simulation models designed for refrigeration systems. It consists of “Refrigeration Utilities”, “EESCoolTools”, and a transient element called “Dynamic”. These models have various specific purposes, such as cycle analysis, dimensioning of main components, energy analysis, and optimization. CoolPack was developed by the Section of Thermal Energy (TES) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The development of CoolPack has been financed by the Danish Energy Agency as part of the SysSim project until version 1.33. Currently, IPU hosts the CoolPack download pages.

CoolPack IPU is no longer maintained, and the future maintenance of the software is not planned. A large part of CoolPack is based on EES, which is difficult to maintain. Instead, the new CoolTools software is recommended for calculations with new refrigerants. Although it does not have all the same functionality as CoolPack, it comes with a lot of the new refrigerants built-in and receives regular updates. The idea is to make more modular software with different components that can be updated individually. This new software is expected to be supported by the community and receive continuous upgrades.

For transcritical CO2 system calculations, Simple one-stage CO2 is recommended. For yearly calculations and comparing different system designs for refrigeration and heat pumps, Pack Calculation Pro is the recommended commercial software. For those interested in secondary side calculations (e.g., water, glycol loops), SecCool is worth taking a look at.

CoolPack offers a royalty-free collection of bars, buttons, and tiles of multiple sizes that can be used for websites, multimedia applications, and programming project creation. Animates and still, elements are available as GIF files with sizes ranging from 15×15 px (for buttons) to 125×35, 230×40, 500×25, 600×10, 600×10, and 600×15 px.

The CoolPack program is freeware and may be distributed freely. The following simulation purposes are covered by CoolPack: cycle analysis (process design), system sizing, system simulation, component calculations, analysis of operating conditions, transient simulation (cooling of an object/room), refrigerant calculations (property plots, thermodynamic & transport properties, comparison of refrigerants), and life cycle cost (LCC). Refrigeration Utilities was first released in 1995, and EESCoolTools was formally introduced as part of CoolPack in March 1999.

The dynamic elements are modeled and solved using a DAE-type simulation program called DALI, which was developed at the Refrigeration Laboratory (now part of the Section of Thermal Energy at the Technical University of Denmark) in 1985. The jagermeister CoolPack license summary can be found online, and the software can be downloaded from the IPU website. Additionally, users can join the mailing list to get informed about releases of new software and to get access to early preview versions.
