Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader Senator Rehman Malik has died at the age of 70.
Rehman Malik’s lungs were affected due to coronary heart disease and Rehman Malik had been on a ventilator in a private hospital for several days.
Senator Rehman Malik, who was the Federal Minister of Home Affairs from 2008 to 2013, is survived by a widow and two sons.
Rehman Malik was considered very close to Benazir Bhutto and he played a key role in the Charter of Democracy.
The University of Karachi had also awarded Rehman Malik an honorary degree of PhD while Rehman Malik was also awarded Sitara-e-Shujaat and Nishan-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for his outstanding performance.
Pakistan Peoples Party leader Nasir Hussain Shah, PML-N secretary general Ahsan Iqbal and former federal minister Babar Ghauri have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Rehman Malik and prayed for the elevation of his rank.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar also expressed sorrow over the demise of Senator Rehman Malik and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
